Computer Tips – Customize the Windows Default Identity

A user has the option to change the Windows default identity (Computer Manufacturer Logo and other information’s) in Windows XP and also share your own private identity there. For this, right click on “My Computer” and further click on Properties; here if there is the computer manufacture logo or empty area, just add your personal logo to make your computer privatized.

Perform the following computer tips for changing the system default Properties identity:

  1. Firstly click the “Start” button and type “notepad” in “Run” option then press “Enter”.
  2. Next insert the following text in notepad:

[General]

Manufacturer=”www.igennie.net”

Model=” Tip of The Day”

[Support Information]

Line1=”We offer various help topics including A to Z Free Computer Tips and Help.”

Line2=”Visit daily for new tips www.igennie.com”

The standard keywords in this text are like Manufacturer, Model, Line 1, Line 2 which are unchangeable.

  1. Then save the notepad file in c: /windows/system32 folder and name the file as OEMINFO.INI.
  2. Next select a preferred image to set as logo, and by the help of any picture editor resize the picture size approx. 150X150 pixels and further save it in c:/windows/system32 folder with renamed as OEMLOGO.BMP.
  3. Thereafter close all the files and restart your PC after any changes implemented and to be brought into effect.
  4. To check for the changes made, right click on “My Computer” and open “Properties”.
  5. Now under the “General” tab, check for the system properties with new settings.
